BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge man is being charged with attempted 2nd degree murder, according to a probable cause report filed by the Baton Rouge Police Department.
It happened on May 24th at around 2:30 a.m. in the morning on Amite Drive in Baton Rouge.
Authorities say the victim informed them that 19-year-old Detroit Draper shot the victim when she opened the door to her home. At the time of the shooting, the victim's children were inside the home.
The report disclosed that Draper told police he got into an altercation with the victim's husband the day before the shooting.
Draper has a previous arrest from 2013 involving possession of marijuana. From this incident he has been charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Illegal Use of a Weapon, and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property.
No other injuries were reported from the incident. The report revealed the victim told police she knew and saw Draper daily. She was able to identify Draper, from a photo, as the person who shot her.
