BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Political shots were being fired in Ascension Parish Wednesday.
The mayor of Gonzales has vetoed the city's budget saying slashing dollars for public safety is not in the best interest of the people.
Three council members voted to cut $70,000 for the police department when the chief says he needs new cars. Those same three people are putting $800,000 towards a research study that the mayor says he knows nothing about.
The City Council meets again Tuesday night.
