BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A local company that produces coffee and tea is expanding in Baton Rouge; investing more than $10 million over the next three years.
The Governor's Office and Pod Pack International announced the plans Wednesday morning to build a new, larger manufacturing facility. The company that distributes its little single-cup pods to hotels, offices, and restaurants will reportedly hire 19 new employees with average salaries of around $30,000 with benefits.
Pod Pack moved from New Orleans to Baton Rouge in 2000 and has kept a fairly low profile until now.
"We've quadrupled in sales since 2010 and now we've had to add capacity to keep up with the growth and we're actually diversifying some other product lines too," said Pod Pack International Executive Vice President Tom Martin.
