WILMINGTON, OH (FOX19) -

Police say that an 83-year-old woman's injuries appear to be life-threatening after her vehicle collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle on State Route 73.

The accident happened just after 11:30 a.m. Thursday just east of U.S. Route 68.

Officers say that Gwendolyn McCormick, an 83-year-old woman from Wilmington, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of State Route 73. Police say that a Chevrolet Express, driven by 44-year-old Mitchell Davis, was traveling eastbound in the left lane at the time.

Police say both vehicles collided head on. McCormick was transported by Care Flight to Miami Valley Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Davis was transported to Clinton Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities say both occupants were wearing seatbelts. The crash remains under investigation.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Ohio State Patrol's Wilmington Post at (937) 382-2551.
