Bullard native Charlie Moore excited for chance in NFL

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Former Oklahoma State wide receiver and Bullard native Charlie Moore did not get drafted, but he will get a chance to make an NFL roster. Moore is set to participated in the Detroit Lions rookie minicamp this weekend.

Oklahoma State teammates Moore and Clint Chelf didn't hear their names called during the NFL draft, but the former Cowboys continued to work out and hope their efforts pay off in upcoming minicamp tryouts.

"Bobby (Stroupe) prepares us well," Chelf said who has been invited to participate in the Dolphins upcoming minicamp. "He prepared me for my pro day and getting this opportunity I knew I would want to come back down here, get back in shape, and have him help me out for a couple days before I go down there."

Moore added, "I can't think Bobby and the APEC staff enough. You know hopefully it continues, and I have some awesome improvements when I step on the field this week."

The amount of talent in East Texas is over the top. Charlie's just excited to represent Bullard and have the opportunity to show Detroit what he's made of.

"I feel good about my size from this offseason just keeping my weight up," Moore said. "I'm going to try and catch their eye with my speed. Whether its on special teams or running routes, I'm going to show them a guy my size can move down the field."

Weather wise, Detroit may not have been the wide receivers first choice. Team wise, playing for Lions is a wideouts dream.

"With a guy like Matthew Stafford if I were to make the team, he slings it and its an awesome offense," Moore said. "It's very explosive so it would be a lot of fun."

First things first, Charlie needs to leave his mark and give the Lions a reason to keep him around.
