BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

LSU will conduct a full-scale campus emergency exercise Tuesday at 6 p.m. with various law enforcement agencies and other organizations.

The event will take place around the Quad and officials ask the general public to avoid the area and the central part of campus as much as possible during that time.

"The focus of this exercise is to engage the university's emergency procedures and allow public safety agencies and community partners to improve emergency planning efforts through practice," said Lawrence Rabalais, chief of the LSU Police Department. "LSU, the city and parish of East Baton Rouge, and participating agencies appreciate the public's cooperation."

Police will close Dalrymple Drive between Infirmary Lane and the Indian Mound and Peabody Hall Lots around 5:15 p.m. Drivers leaving the Indian Mound and Peabody Lots will be required to turn west during that time, but may continue to exit throughout the event. Those parked in the Thomas Boyd Lot will also be able to exit, but will be required to turn east after its closed.

Police request that anyone parked in the Thomas Boyd Lot accessible from the Middleton Library Service Drive exit the lot before 5:15 p.m. When the exercise scenario begins, police  cannot ensure passage from the lot to Dalrymple Drive, as multiple agencies will respond to the scene.
