SaalRN app designed to help pediatric nursing students thrive in a clinical setting
MINNEAPOLIS, May 12, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Minnesota School of Business, a leader in post-secondary nursing education, is expanding on the program's technology with the use of a mobile application to assist pediatric nurses. The app, SaalRN, was designed by Nursing Program Chair Kendra Saal and allows nurses to access information such as immunization and development schedules, dosage amounts, vital signs and conversion rates on any mobile device or tablet while on the job.
"I wanted to help students succeed in the workforce by providing them with all the necessary information they would need in their clinicals," Saal says on why she originally designed the app. "They can easily pull up everything they need in one place and don't need to haul around a bunch of books."
The use of the app fits with Minnesota School of Business' digital learning model, edUX, which includes providing all students with Apple iPad™ to complete coursework and receive hands-on career training.
"We're lucky to have faculty members like Kendra part of our nursing program," says Minnesota School of Business Dean of Nursing Elizabeth Riley. "Our goal is to provide our students with the best career training possible. Kendra saw that this technology would enhance their learning experience, and she made it a reality."
In addition to her role as nursing program chair, Saal teaches pediatrics at Minnesota School of Business and works at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. SaalRN is available to download for free at http://myapp.is/SaalRN.
