BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The employees of Wal-Mart and the Wal-mart Foundation made a major gift to feed the hungry in our area.
Brad Lambert of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank says grant money is being used to sponsor a program for a good cause.
"A 50-thousand dollar grant that's being used for the back pack program and then a 31-thousand-500 dollar grant that's going to allow us to get a new forklift," said Lambert.
Wal-mart employees were bagging up some backpacks to send home with children at Capitol Elementary. The Food Bank send backpacks so that needy children will have food on the weekend, during the holidays, or the summer.
