Proposed bill would ban domestic abusers from having a gun

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Critical domestic violence bills sailed through the Senate Tuesday. One of them bans people convicted of domestic abuse from possessing a gun for a decade.

Another would label aggravated assault as a crime of violence reducing the chance for parole or probation. And a third speeds the filing of protective orders.

The bills head back to the House.
