BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Louisiana Senate honored 12 soldiers from Louisiana who died in Afghanistan and Iraq over the last year.
Tuesday was Military Family day. Families for each soldier were invited to attend, and those present were given a state flag.
Lawmakers have memorialized 189 Louisiana soldiers who have died in the two wars.
"We are truly patriots and we regret every year that we have to go through these ceremonies," said Senator Robert Adley, R-Benton.
One woman was honored during the ceremony as being a World War II "WAVE," or Women Accepted for Emergency Service.
This was the 10th annual Military Family Day.
