Deputies with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office have arrested a man who was wanted for simple escape.

According to information from the Sheriff's Office, 25-year-old Chad Williams was arrested on April 29 on warrants for illegal possession of stolen things after deputies investigated a complaint that he stole jewelry and sold it at a local pawn shop.

During the interview with Williams that day, deputies say he walked out of the building.

Officials say detectives developed information that Williams was at a home in the Berwick area.

Berwick Police and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office went to the home and saw Williams leaving out of the back of the home. The deputy placed Williams under arrest.

He is charged with illegal possession of stolen things, theft by fraud and simple escape.
