BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Successful businesswomen shared tips on how to move up the corporate ladder, how to balance work and home, and how to set boundaries.
It was all part of BRAC's Signature Speaker Series luncheon on "Advancing to the Top." The event was held Tuesday, May 6 at the Manship Theatre.
Panelists included Del Dugas, ExxonMobil; Teri Fontenot, Woman's Hospital; Kimberly Robinson, Jones Walker law firm; Terrie Sterling, Our Lady of the Lake, and Elizabeth "Boo" Thomas, Center for Planning Excellence. Roberta Phillips with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce was the featured guest speaker.
"You can't serve on every board in the community," Robinson says. "Decide what's important to you."
"Put your own oxygen mask on first," says Sterling. "It's really important to put yourself at the top of your list so you can be awesome for all those other things."
"I had to understand what was really important to me," Thomas says. "Not to my husband or my children, but to me. What did I want and need and what would make me a better person."
Nearly 200 participants attended the luncheon and workshop. For more information, go to www.brac.org.
