Woman accused of shooting husband to death while he was driving

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police have arrested a woman on murder charges after her husband was shot to death while they were riding in a truck together on Saturday.

Euphoria Beauchamp, 50, of Baton Rouge is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Noel Beauchamp, 55. She was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

The shooting happened on Airline Highway between North Foster Drive and McClelland Drive around 9 a.m.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said detectives found her account of what happened were not consistent with the evidence and facts in the case.

According to the probable cause report, Euphoria Beauchamp claimed her husband began violently hitting her in the face as he was driving and she was sitting next to him. He added she told investigators she then grabbed a gun from her purse and shot him several times.

Police said she did not appear to have injuries consistent with a violent beating. They added Noel Beauchamp was shot multiple times in the face and neck area.

The investigation is ongoing.
