Unloaded gun found on floor of elementary classroom

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - An unloaded weapon was found on the floor of a 5th grade classroom at Westdale Heights Elementary in Baton Rouge, according to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office.

The weapon was a .25 caliber handgun.

Deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office who are part of the School Drug Task Force searched and questioned all students in the class, but it is still unclear where the gun came from.

This incident is still under investigation.

The School Drug Task Force is a multi-agency unit made up of East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Deputies and Baton Rouge Police Officers.
