The New Orleans Saints decided not to pick up the fifth-year option on running back Mark Ingram.
The Heisman Trophy winner from Alabama taken in the first round of the 2011 NFL draft never quite lived up to the hype.
It would have cost the team $5.2 million to extend Ingram's contract into 2015, which is more than the going rate for free agent running backs at this point.
It is really "running back by committee" in New Orleans and has been for years, so the Saints have set the stage for this to be Ingram's last season with the Black and Gold.
Ingram was drafted No. 28 overall in 2011. In his three years in the league, he has rushed for 1,462 yards and 11 touchdowns.
