BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The 22nd Annual Math and Science Festival for North Baton Rouge was held at Southern University Friday. The event is aimed at increasing students' interest in math and science.
ExxonMobil employees led hands-on competitions for students in grades five through eight.
More than 75 students participated. All of the students who participated were from Baker Middle School, Scotlandville Middle School and LSU Lab School.
The competitions included a balloon carriage contest, pringle delivery challenge, Cantilever bridge building and a quiz bowl.
The goal of this outreach effort was to show students that careers in math, science and technology offer many opportunities to work in any number of exciting industries, earn a good living and use their talents to make a difference in the world.
