MARINGOUIN, LA (WAFB) -

A major player in the Iberville drug trade was arrested Thursday after a search warrant was executed, according to the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office.

The search warrant happened in the 78000 block of Wheelock Lane in Maringouin.

Deputies say 40-year-old Todd Smith was arrested by the L.E.A.D. Task Force. Smith was arrested for possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, in excess of 28 grams. Deputies found more than $30,000 and more than 2 ounces of crack cocaine.

Deputies also seized a BMW 745i and a Dodge Charger.

Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi, Sr. says Smith is a long-time, key player in the parish's drug trade. "He has an extensive criminal record for drug arrests dating back to the '90's."

In the news release from the Sheriff's Office, it states "Let this be a warning, if you continue to sell drugs in Iberville Parish, this too will be your fate. We are watching, you will be arrested. We will bring all drug dealers to justice."
