BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - For the second time in a row, a Baton Rouge-area garbage truck driver has been named Driver of the Year by the National Waste and Recycling Industry.
Johnny Caine, a driver for Republic Services, received the award in the Large Residential Category. He was selected from among 908 drivers representing 30 companies nationwide.
Caine services the Baton Rouge area as a residential driver. He drives nearly 460 miles each week to complete a whopping 7,200 garbage pickups.
He was recognized during the 46th annual WasteExpo Conference and Exhibition in Atlanta Tuesday.
He will receive his own brand new garbage truck from Republic Services for winning the award. Another Republic driver from Baton Rouge, Terrance Johnson, won this award last year.
