Police find shooting victim dead on sidewalk

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead along a street late Wednesday night.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said it happened on Scenic Highway and Mulberry Street around 10:45 p.m.

Capt. Ronald Norman with BRPD said officers were called out to a report of a man lying face down on the sidewalk.

He added officers arrived on the scene and discovered he had been shot. EMS showed up a short time later and reportedly pronounced him dead after examining him.

The victim's name has not been released pending notification of his family.

Detectives have not yet identified a suspect or established a motive for the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
