Senate bill would better protect personal information

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Senate Commerce Committee has advanced a bill that would ban state agencies from releasing personal information on anyone. If passed into law, that information which includes social security numbers and drivers license numbers would not be released to any other entity.

"What we have here is what we initially intended to do and that was to provide some sort of heightened awareness of care for private data of constituents," says Sen. A.G. Crowe.

The bill moves to the Senate floor.
