BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - After a construction mishap Monday night, crews shut down the cooling mechanism at Perkins Rowe. Nearly 200 residents and more than 40 retailers were without air conditioning for nearly 48 hours.
According to neighboring businesses, Cinemark Perkins Rowe was closed today until 3:30 p.m. When WAFB contacted the theater, employees said movies will not start until 4 p.m. Other businesses at Perkins Rowe remained open and the employees were working through the heat.
According to Stirling Properties, the management company that operates Perkins Rowe, the cooling system for the development is chilled water lines that run underground. One of the water lines was damaged by a construction crew and the system had to be shut down.
