BRUSLY, LA (WAFB) - Interim Brusly Police Chief Richie Johnson was officially sworn in to office Wednesday morning.
The 26-year veteran of law enforcement was named to the position after a special council meeting on April 22.
Johnson fills the void left when Jamie Whaley resigned after pleading guilty to malfeasance in office related to using town fuel cards to fill up personal vehicles.
Johnson took over the duties of police chief on April 26.
The general election for the town to vote for a new police chief will be held on November 4.
