GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - After a three month investigation into numerous complaints of businesses in Gonzales, LA receiving obscene phone calls, police have arrested and charged a man with 191 counts related to the calls.
Richard Dent Jr., 42, was originally arrested by narcotics detectives on April 24, 2014 for narcotics violations at his home in Gonzales.
According to the Gonzales Police Department, the investigation revealed that Dent was responsible for making the obscene phone calls. According the employees who received the phone calls, the calls were "some lewd attempt to satisfy his sexual desires."
Records show that Dent was interviewed at the Ascension Parish Jail on April 25, 2014. That interview, along with the tracing of the numbers which had called the businesses main phone lines, led to arrest warrants being issued for Dent in connection to these cases.
The phone calls spanned from Feb 6, 2014 until April 4, 2014.
Dent has been charged with one count of misdemeanor stalking, three counts of felony stalking, 68 counts of misdemeanor improper telephone communications, and 119 counts of felony improper telephone communications.
He is being held in the Ascension Parish Jail where his bond has been set at $104,530.50.
