Deputy talks gator into turning itself in

RIGOLETS, LA (WVUE) -

A 7' long alligator wandered onto a busy highway in the Rigolets on Monday night, so the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office sent out a special officer to help get the gator to safety.

Deputy Howard McCrea, a nuisance animal expert, was sent to Hwy. 433 near the Rigolets after the reptile refused to leave the roadway.

The sheriff's office said McCrea "eventually talked the gator into going with him." Drivers and residents in the area thanked McCrea for his quick response.

FOX 8 reached out to the sheriff's office to find out what happened to the gator. The sheriff's office has not responded.
