GARYVILLE, LA (WAFB) -
The passenger in a car died
and the driver was badly injured after they were both ejected when the car hit
a tree and flipped Sunday evening.
Louisiana State Police said
Leroy Noble, 21, of Reserve, died in the wreck. Troopers added Torian Williams,
22, of Reserve, was driving. The accident happened on LA 44 in Garyville around
Tpr. Evan Harrell with LSP
reported the initial investigation showed the 2004 Chrysler Sebring that Williams
was driving went off the highway in a curve. He added the driver overcorrected,
which caused the car to go off the road and slam into a tree.
Investigators said the car
then started to roll over and both men were thrown from the vehicle. They added
neither was wearing a seatbelt.
Noble was taken to St. James
Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Williams was taken to St. Elizabeth's
Hospital with serious injuries.
Harrell said speed is considered
a factor in the crash. A sample of his blood was sent to the Louisiana State
Police Crime Lab for analysis.
