Police: Man fires gun from vehicle and crashes after speeding off

LAFAYETTE, LA (WAFB) - A man accused of firing a gun from a vehicle and crashing into a building after driving off was arrested early Monday morning.

The Lafayette Police Department reported Miles Guidry, 25, of Lafayette, is charged with aggravated flight from an officer, illegal discharge of a firearm and OWI (2nd offense). He remains in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on a $32,000 bond.

Police said an officer on patrol saw a vehicle stopped in a lane on Taft Street around 1 a.m. According to reports, the driver fired a shot in the air and sped off.

LPD said the driver crashed into a building on Johnston Street a short time later.

Investigators reported finding a .357 caliber pistol inside the vehicle.
