Residents in Ethel shocked by double murder

ETHEL, LA (WAFB) - "Disbelief."

That's how people in Ethel described the news of a husband and wife found dead inside their home.

"I am so shocked," says Vera Peel.  "I cannot believe it's happened so close to home. The Hall family has lived her for years."

Fifty-three year old Eddie Hall and his wife Connie Hall were found by their daughter and son-in-law Sunday afternoon after the couple would not answer any calls. The East Feliciana Sherif's Office is not releasing many details, but State Police Crime Lab came by Monday to take evidence. Meanwhile, the house the Halls lived in remains taped off with a State Police trooper sitting guard outside.

Peel says the disturbing news is the talk of the town.

"I'm kinda in awe to really realize it could happen here in this small community," Peel says.

Loved ones tell us Eddie was a well-known painter and owned his own painting business, while Connie was a home-maker and cleaned homes on a part-time basis. Now, everyone is left asking why.

Det. Don Mackey with Sheriff's office asks anyone who may have seen something suspicious near the home between Saturday and Sunday around 1 p.m. to call Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
