BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU junior right-hander Aaron Nola is among the 47 pitchers on the first watch list for the 2014 National Pitcher of the Year Award.
The Pitcher of the Year Award, sponsored by Diamond, will be presented during the National College Baseball Hall of Fame's annual Night of Champions on June 28 in Lubbock, Texas.
Nola, a Baton Rouge native, is 7-1 this season with an SEC-best 0.88 ERA in 71.2 innings. The 2013 first-team all-American and SEC Pitcher of the Year has recorded 15 walks and an conference-high 91 strikeouts, and opponents are batting just .159 against him.
Nola is ranked No. 3 in the nation in strikeouts and he is No. 5 in the country in ERA.
