MORGAN CITY, LA (WAFB) - A woman accused of speaking with a young victim about an investigation, after being ordered not to, was arrested Thursday morning on obstruction and intimidation charges.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said Carla Rome, 52, of Stephensville, was told numerous times not to have contact with the juvenile victim or the victim's family.
However, detectives said during their investigation, they learned Rome was trying to speak with the victim.
According to deputies, witnesses reported Rome approached the victim in a threatening manner and demanded the victim answer questions about the ongoing investigation.
She was booked into the parish jail on charges of obstruction of justice and intimidating a witness.
She was released after posting a $50,000 bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
