Authorities said a woman arrested for DWI after a single-vehicle crash is accused of impersonating a court official to try to get evidence in her case destroyed.

Louisiana State Police reported Jana Pourciau, 23, of Maringouin, was arrested Wednesday after allegedly calling the State Police Crime Lab posing as an official with the 18th Judicial District Court and attempting to get her blood sample for toxicology analysis from a crash destroyed.

She was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of false personation and forgery. Her bond was set at $5,000.

Tpr. Jared Sandifer with LSP said Pourciau allegedly called the crime lab from her cell phone on Tuesday and using a fake name, told workers she worked for the 18th JDC and the blood evidence from the crash could be destroyed "because the case had been dismissed and was not going to be prosecuted." He added Pourciau also sent an email from her personal account claiming the case had been thrown out.

According to Sandifer, when detectives with LSP questioned Pourciau about the phone call and email, she reportedly admitted to both. She was then placed under arrest on the above charges.

Troopers reported the crash at the heart of this case happened on LA 977 south of LA 77 in Pointe Coupee Parish around 11 p.m. on April 12. Investigators believe Pourciau lost control of the 2010 Lexus RX350 she was driving, went off the road, hit a fence around an elementary school and flipped.

They reported Pourciau was suspected of driving impaired. She was booked on charges of DWI (first offense), careless operation and no seatbelt. Troopers added she was taken to Baton Rouge General Medical Center Mid-City for treatment and a blood sample was taken by medical personnel.

The case remains under investigation.
