WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA (WAFB) - What began as a traffic stop in Pointe Coupee Parish around 1:30 p.m. Thursday ended with a flipped pickup truck in West Baton Rouge Parish after a police chase.
A man identified as Willie Brown was being pulled over by Livonia Police when he took off and headed east on Hwy 190 at high speeds. When the chase crossed into West Baton Rouge Parish, a WBR Parish Sheriff's Deputy joined in.
Once Brown was near the LA 415 Lobdell exit, another deputy put down spike strips. Officials say Brown tried to avoid the strips, drove into the median and lost control of his pickup truck. The truck flipped several times and came to rest against a tree.
Brown suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to the hospital.
Brown is being charged for traffic violations by West Baton Rouge and Livonia Police.
When officials ran a check on Brown, they learned he had multiple felony warrants out in East Baton Rouge Parish.
