Bill proposes school principals have more power, community meeting scheduled

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A bill going before a House Committee Wednesday proposes that school principals should have more power within the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

State and local education leaders are holding a community meeting tonight at Capitol Middle School to talk about the potential impact of the measure.

Some of the added duties for principals would include budgeting, security and transportation.

The meeting tonight starts at 6 p.m. at Capitol Middle School. District 8 Representative Carolyn Hill will host the meeting.
