Bunkie man arrested for fishing without a license, resisting arrest

Agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Enforcement Division recently arrested a Bunkie man for alleged flight from an officer and resisting arrest in Avoyelles Parish. He was also charged with taking commercial fish without a commercial gear license and trespassing.

Shannon Stevenson, 30, was arrested and booked into the Avoyelles Parish Prison.

Agents were checking Stevenson's license as he was fishing over 140 crawfish traps from the bank on Bayou Rouge near Bunkie. Stevenson tried to swim away, but agents caught him.

Fishing without license and gear can result in a fine of up to $500 and up to 90 days in jail. Resisting an officer can result in a fine of up to $500 fine and six months in jail.
