Man accused of rape, victim now pregnant

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A man is accused of forcible rape and other charges after allegedly forcing sexual acts on a minor who later became pregnant.

According to a probable cause report from the BRPD Sex Crimes Division, 33-year-old Norman J. Coleman of New Orleans, committed the violations on two separate occasions at a Baton Rouge residence, earlier in February 2014.

On March 26th, the victim described the first incident to officials, saying Coleman said he wanted to show her something. Coleman allegedly performed a sexual act on himself before removing the girl's clothing and then forcing himself on her.

The girl also told authorities that afterwards, Coleman instructed her to "go wash off' and to not tell what happened.  

On the second occurrence, Coleman was allegedly viewing pornographic material and began a sexual act on himself. The victim told authorities that when she tried to leave, Coleman picked her up, pushed her onto a bed, and forced himself on her after removing her clothing.

Police had the minor was able to identify parts of the male and female anatomy from a drawing, during the interview, as she explained the incidents.

The young girl was recently taken to a local health clinic and informed that she was 6 weeks pregnant.

On March 27th, investigators say they were able to get in contact with Coleman's mother. The report explains how she told police she confronted Coleman about the incidents.

Additionally, it stated Coleman's mother informed officials that when she questioned him about the allegations, Coleman allegedly "admitted to his mother that what he was being accused of was true."

Coleman was booked on charges of forcible rape and other violations.  His bail was set at $100,000.
