Chesterfield Police investigating accident that sends two to hospital

Officials are investigating an accident on the 11000 block of Riverway Road, near the Beach Road intersection in Chesterfield, that occurred around 11 p.m. Friday evening.

Chesterfield police were called to the scene after a neighbor reported hearing "screeching tires" and what sounded like a car accident.

Police found a vehicle with damage to both sides and the roof upon arriving at the scene.  Investigating officers determined the driver lost control of the car, causing it to roll off the road and hit several trees.

A man and a woman were both injured in the crash.  The woman was ejected from the vehicle.  Both victims were taken to VCU Medical Center for evaluation after complaining of paralysis at the scene.

Chesterfield police are not ruling out alcohol as a possible factor in the crash, based on observations of the male victim's behavior.

Police say charges are pending, but that it is still early in the investigation.  There is no word on the condition of the two victims.
