Bond set for man accused of kidnapping school bus driver

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Bond has been set at $70,500 for a man accused of taking a school bus driver hostage at gunpoint and then barricading himself in a house.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said Jock Jones, 37, of Baton Rouge, is charged with aggravated kidnapping, carjacking and felon in possession of a firearm.

Officials said the incident started Monday morning when Jones went to the bus driver's home and allegedly confronted her before she left for her route.

According to witnesses, Jones pulled out a handgun, forced the woman onto the bus and reportedly demand she drive them to his home on Billops Street.

Investigators said when officers arrived at the home, Jones released the woman, but he remained inside until he surrendered later in the morning.
