Drive-by shooting leaves 3 injured, 1 seriously

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police said three people were wounded, one of them seriously, in a drive-by shooting Tuesday night.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported one person was shot on Avis Avenue, while the other two victims were shot on Leonard Drive. The shootings happened shortly around 9 p.m.

Capt. Ronald Norman with BRPD said the man shot on Avis suffered a serious gunshot wound to the side. He added the shooting injuries the other two people received are not considered life-threatening.

EMS took all three victims to the hospital. Investigators mentioned a fourth victim that was not injured. They did not specify if they believe that person was targeted or just in the area at the time of the shooting.

Detectives said they have not yet identified a suspect or established a motive for the shooting. However, witnesses said a group of people got into an argument before someone pulled out a gun.

"It all escalated from a fight," an unidentified man said. "It all started with a fight. It ain't even worth it. Somebody else losing their life isn't worth it."

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
