SORRENTO, LA (WAFB) -

A two-vehicle crash in Ascension Parish has taken the life of 36-year-old Shelby G. Johnson of Napoleonville.

State Police say Johnson was driving northbound on LA Highway 70 south of LA Highway 22 at about 10 a.m. Tuesday morning. Donna Dunaway, 40 of Gonzales, was driving a dump truck southbound on Highway 70 when for some unknown reason Johnson's Mustang struck the dump truck head on.

Johnson sustained fatal injuries. The other driver was not injured. Driver impairment is not suspected, but toxicology samples were taken from both drivers and submitted to the State Police crime lab for further analysis.
