BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - There is good news for an alligator snapping turtle that was rescued from a drainage ditch a week ago.
"Snappy," as the rescuers referred to the reptile, has been set free.
The men who found the huge turtle stuck in a culvert said they had several offers from people who wanted to take it in, including an aquarium and a turtle farm.
However, one of the men, Martin LeBlanc, said they felt like the best spot for the turtle was in the wild and not in captivity.
With that in mind, they declined those offers and took the turtle to a place where they believe he will be free to live without fear of being captured.
Out of concern for the turtle, LeBlanc added he's keeping the location a secret.
Good luck, "Snappy."
