Former LSU linebacker injured in Sulphur shooting

SULPHUR, LA (WAFB) - Sulphur Police say former LSU linebacker Tahj Jones was injured in a shooting late Friday night. The shooting took place on South Beglis Parkway at the Town and Country Apartments.

An investigation revealed that Jones went to the apartments to visit a female friend.  Shortly after his arrival, Brandon Winey, 36, arrived to visit the same female.  An altercation happened and at some point Winey pulled out a gun and shot Jones in the abdomen.  Winey left the scene and Jones was taken to a local hospital by the female, he is listed in stable condition.

Winey was later found at his residence and taken into custody without incident.  He has been booked into the Sulphur City Jail and charged with one count of Attempted Second Degree Murder.

The incident remains under investigation.
