LIVINGSTON, LA (WAFB) -

A 24-year-old Denham Springs woman was sentenced to 10 years in prison -- five of which were suspended --for a deadly crash that took the life of a 35-year-old Walker man.

Kadie Matthews pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide in the death of Richard Moore Jr. last April. She also received five years of probation after her release.

Police say witnesses reported Matthews was driving fast and slammed into the back of Moore's pickup truck. The impact caused Moore to lose control, go off the road, and hit a tree. He died later at the hospital.
