BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - April is National Volunteer Month and volunteers in the Baton Rouge area have helped more than 1,400 people after disasters.
Vincent Collins is just one of the many volunteers who responds to disasters. He just started back in December, but he hit the ground running.
In the past five days, he's helped eight families. He said being there to help is the best feeling in the world.
"I decided to pick the Red Cross because I really enjoyed what they did and how they gave back to the community," Collins explained. "I wanted to do something to give me more like a person-to-person interaction instead of being behind the scene interaction."
The Red Cross is holding a big recruitment event this weekend.
