BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Fire officials are investigating what caused a fire in which the flames damaged more than half of a home Wednesday evening.

The St. George Fire Department said it was called out to a house fire on Vouvray Drive in the Vignes Lake subdivision in Baton Rouge just before 7 p.m. The neighborhood is off Hoo Shoo Too Road between Jefferson Highway and South Tiger Bend Road.

Eldon Ledoux with SGFD said responding firefighters reported the back of the house was engulfed in flames when they got on the scene and dense smoke was billowing from all of the attic vents.

No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. Ledoux added about 60 percent of the home was damaged by the fire, while the rest of it received smoke damage.

The Red Cross was called to help the family of four.
