Police have arrested two people after suspicious packages were left near a building on the LSU campus Monday.

The LSU Police Department reported Roy Chavalitlekakha, 19, of Baton Rouge, and Justin Brocato, 17, of Prairieville, are charged with communicating false information of a planned bombing on school property. The charge is a felony.

Investigators added neither of the suspects are current LSU students. There was no indication whether they were former students.

Capt. Cory Lalonde with LSUPD said an LSU employee found two boxes near Thomas Boyd Hall. One of them had writing on it indicating it was possibly a bomb.

The BRPD Bomb Unit was called in and detonated the boxes after not being able to determine with certainty whether or not the boxes were safe. Further investigation later showed the boxes did not contain explosive material.

Authorities said Chavalitlekakha and Brocato were later developed as suspects and during questioning admitted to writing on the boxes and putting them on the sidewalk near the building.

The investigation is ongoing.
