BRPD Awards ceremony celebrates 2013 honorees

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge Police gave out awards for the year 2013 a Boudreaux's Wednesday night.  The department as a whole has been able to make advances on violent crime in Baton Rouge, and Chief Carl Dabadie applauded the hard work this past year.

Also, the department handed out awards for bravery and dedication above and beyond normal duty.  And among the honorees was retired police chief Jeff Leduff.

Leduff accepted an award tonight for work he did after retirement to help negotiate a woman's safety in a police standoff.

Heidi Dunnam is not a police employee, but won tonight's 'Citizen of the Year' Award for her work as the Assistant Coordinator of the Crime Stoppers program.
