BAYOU CORNE, LA (WAFB) - Texas Brine has reached a settlement in a class-action lawsuit filed by property owners.
The parties filed a motion Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana before Judge Jay Zainey, seeking preliminary approval of the settlement.
It's been more than a year since a massive sinkhole near Bayou Corne and Grand Bayou started bubbling up. More than 350 people have been forced of their homes since August 2012.
The lawsuit states "among other terms, the settlement agreement is conditioned upon the acquisition of the residents' property by Texas Brine. Texas Brine is no longer exploring any options outside of the terms of the settlement."
No other terms of the settlement were disclosed.
