BRPD: Weather conditions contributed to crash that killed woman

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police said a woman died after crashing into a pole late Sunday night.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported it happened on I-110 North near the Scotlandville exit just before midnight. Ashley Stroup, 22, of Denham Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said responding officers found Stroup in her SUV, which crashed into a pole.

"At this time, investigators are still looking into the cause of the crash," Cpl. Don Coppola, Baton Rouge Police Department. "It possible that driver was going too fast for the inclement weather conditions. Any witnesses to the crash should contact the traffic homicide division."
