BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge firefighters spent the wet evening putting out a duplex fire near City Park that resulted in approximately $45,000 worth of damages.
It happened at around 6:15 p.m. on Fig Street off of Eddie Robinson Road. Firefighters found the front of the house almost fully engulfed in flames.
The cause has yet to be determined, but a quick response contained the fire to one half of the duplex. One man said it all happened so fast.
"All of a sudden, my light was going on and off, and I heard a boom. And all of a sudden fire was everywhere, and I was trying to get out, and the only thing I could get out was my bike. I tried to put it out but I couldn't," said Fig Street resident Carl Louis.
Fire investigators believe the fire began in the living room around the entertainment center.
Fire officials report that everyone got out of the house without injury.
