A man is in custody on rape charges of an 11-year-old, according to local authorities.

Police says while the victim was at home two weeks ago when her mother was at work, a man identified as 35-year-old Thomas Scott allegedly forced the child to have sex with him.

Police say the victim reported that when she was lying in bed on her stomach about to go to sleep when Scott entered her room and laid on top of her at which he began the sexual assault.

The girl later informed her grandmother of what happened. She was taken to Our Lady of the Lake (OLOL) Pediatrics for examination.

According to the probable cause report, officials say the examining physician reported noticing discoloration around the rectal area of the victim that could indicate signs of healing trauma.

Scot was taken into custody and later transported to the EBR Parish Prison. He was booked on the charge of aggravated rape.
