BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU has juggled its pitching rotation again, putting junior righthander Aaron Nola (5-1, 0.55 ERA) back in his normal Friday night starter's role against Mississippi State this weekend.
Head coach Paul Mainieri had announced earlier on Thursday that freshman lefthander Jared Poche' (5-2, 2.61 ERA) would replace Nola as the Friday starter, because he only threw 67 pitches in last Saturday's doubleheader at Florida, while Nola threw 115 pitches the same day.
Poche' is now slated to start Saturday night's game, while Sunday's LSU starter has not been announced.
Mainieri told WAFB Thursday night he switched back to the original rotation, because of this weekend's weather forecast. Projected rain could cut the three-game series short, so using his ace in the first game eliminates the possibility of Nola missing a turn in the rotation.
